By Faith, Health and Healing will utilize the funds of this grant to further address the impacts of community trauma in the Kensington, Harrowgate, and Fairhill communities. In partnership with local organizations and residents, over the next 12 months we expect to continue to build strong community networks to provide struggling families with peer support and environments to process grief and loss, build relationships, develop skillsets, breakdown stigma, and positively impact their lives.
In addition to creating and sustaining strong resident support networks, we anticipate more community members will learn and develop trauma-informed skillsets to be able to deal with the challenges of their communities and the environments they live in. While we know this is not the only work to be done, we expect our participants to build resilience, access additional resources that they have not previously used, and impact their communities in positive ways.
In addition, we anticipate exposing young people in Kensington to enhanced youth programming that will expose them to new skillsets and career pathways such as construction. In working with local contractors and partners, youth will develop skills and complete community-based projects to beautify their neighborhood. We hope the young people will be inspired by their ability to positively impact the community.
