Originally founded as a specialized home health care agency in 2013, By Faith, Health and Healing paused operations after the loss of founder Brenda Mosley’s daughter. Ms. Mosley moved to Kensington in 2014 and began working with community-based trauma informed programming, community outreach, and service as a sponsor for those suffering from addiction. Trained as a nurse, Community Connector, certified community health worker, and certified peer specialist, Ms. Mosley was a foundational contributor to the design of a trauma informed curriculum for community engagement done in partnership with New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC) and Impact Services. After this experience and seeing the value of how this work can heal, Ms. Mosley re-established the organization in 2020 with a focus on rebuilding the community and establishing a foundation in trauma informed care in Kensington. Since, Ms. Mosley has worked with over 500 families in Kensington recovering from the impacts of community trauma, addiction, gun violence, and loss. She has led several programs with community based partners, including NKCDC, Community Center at Visitation, local artists, along with Mural Arts, and other local stakeholders and providers.
