Fab Youth Philly

Mission and History

Fab Youth Philly (FYP) is a Philadelphia-based youth development organization that provides innovative, award-winning programming for youth, with a focus on creating workforce development opportunities for teens ages 15-19. Our summer and afterschool jobs are designed to meet teens’ developmental needs: establishing financial independence, exploring their passions and interests and building positive relationships with peers and adults. Since 2017, we’ve provided jobs for nearly 400 teens.

Grant Summary

For 2024, we are requesting funding for our Babysitter Certification Training Program. The Red Cross has an online babysitter certificate that trains teens in child development, child-friendly activities, and safety protocols. While a teen could pay the $40 fee and take the 4-hour course on their own, many teens don’t even know it exists and that is an option. We will train one additional adult to oversee the training, provide the teens with a stipend for attending the training, and supply teens with their own Red Cross books and materials. We will also extend the training hours to include Infant/Child First Aid & CPR. Both of these certificates can be utilized by teens towards Act 158 Credits.
