Providence Center

Mission and History

Providence Center was founded by the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus in 1993 in response to the closing of St. Edward’s parish and school, where they had taught for over 100 years. From the beginning, our founders went door-to-door in the community, asking neighbors what kind of services they needed and what they wanted to see in a community center. Providence Center was created as a way to address the pressing needs that residents identified. Now, more than 26 years later, we keep the spirit of our founders alive in our mission and in the work we do. Providence Center is committed to providing for the needs of the Fairhill community, especially for people who are new to the area. Our mission is to educate people to have the power and spirit to transform their lives and community.

This funding will support that initiative and, in turn, contribute to increased programmatic capacity and a more sustainable future for our organization and.
